Having successfully been in business as a self-employed web designer for quite a few years now, it's always nice to help other people out who have an interest in this sphere of work.
A young African man has recently become a student of mine and is eagerly learning the skills required to build his own website in Wordpress, and eventually put forth a proposition to the company where he currently has a placement.
The full time University course in IT he is undergoing will also stand him in good stead in any employment he may gain in the future.
Although he came to the UK as a refugee when he was only 16 years old without being able to speak a word of English, he is now fully conversant in our language and is quick to learn new skills.
At the moment we are building the site together as I demonstrate the procedures and he learns through example and practise. Once the site is finished I will add the link to a new post and help him get the site found in the search engines.
Meanwhile, the training is helping me develop my skills as a teacher which I hope to put to good use in a future training project.
