Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Q. How many pages will be included in the website? And how much will it cost?
A. The amount of pages required will depend mainly on the amount of information and the type of sub sections you want included. Our custom web design service is £40 per page. The average small business website is usually around 4 - 5 pages, but can be less if on a tight budget.

Q. How do I provide the information I want included in my website?
A. All textual content can be emailed to us, as well as any digital images you want displayed. Alternatively you can post photos/artwork to us on request.

Q. If I want some changes made in the future to the content of my website will I be charged for this?
A. If the changes involve just minor spelling error corrections or a small change in details, such as change of address or telephone number then no charge will be made. Major updates such as changes or additions to the textual content or pictures will involve a flat fee of £18 per update to cover the time involved in updating your website.

Q. Do I need to upload the website myself?
A. No. We take care of everything involved in the process of setting up your website and uploading the web pages, information and pictures to the server used that provides visitors access to your site via the internet.

Q. Apart from the website design fee, are there any other extra costs involved?
A. We also provide a very reliable web hosting service at a cost of £5 per month which is very competitively priced if you require a professional service for your website. A good web hosting service is essential to maintain and provide visitors access to your website 24/7 If you prefer, you can also pay annually. These fees will be due once your website goes ‘live’ online.

Q. What is web hosting?
A. All websites need to be ‘hosted’ on a web server. A web server is basically a computer and a program designed to deliver content, such as web pages, through a direct connection to the internet. This means the server has to be running constantly to ensure the website is always accessible 24/7. Obviously this entails running costs such as electricity and maintenance charges to ensure the web server is always working and keeps your website ‘live’ on the internet.

Q. Why do you charge a web hosting fee when there are some free web hosting plans available?
A. Nearly all ‘free’ web hosting plans involve some form of sponsored advertising which will appear on your website. Some also require that your website uses a sub-domain such www.yoursitename.webs.com. This can make your site appear unprofessional and make visitors aware that you’re using a free web host provider.

A free web hosting service is also usually limited in how much web space and bandwidth you can use, which means your website may not always be accessible. Many ‘personal’ websites use free web hosting but we always recommend that a business website should always use a professional web hosting service.

Q. How will people find my website?
A. Most people will type in a 'keyword' search word or phrase into a search engine like Google to find what they're looking for. To ensure that your website is found it will need to be 'optimised' for the most relevant keywords.

SEO stands for ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ which is the term used to describe the techniques used to optimise a website so that it gets found and listed in the search engines. The better your website is optimised, the more likely it will appear on the first page of the search results.

Q. Do I need a domain name?
A. Yes. All websites require a domain name. If you don’t already have a domain name for your website then we can register it for you. Or better still, you can register it yourself with a domain name registration company such as 123reg.co.uk who we use all the time and can heartily recommend.
