Do your own websites and have fun doing it

In the previous post I talked about hobby websites and how to monetise them to make them pay for themselves. However, if you like to create websites about your hobby or interests just for the enjoyment of it, that's fine. It doesn't require a large investment. Domain names and web hosting is relatively inexpensive these days, and there are many sites that offer free hosting if you don't mind using a sub domain. Even setting up your own blog on blogger.com my be all you need.

Personally, I like to use my own domains. They are good for the search engines and are easy for your visitors to remember, providing you keep them short and memorable.

I've decided to spend the next few weeks developing some of the domain names I have registered over the last two or three years. Previously, I never seemed to have enough time to do so. But now I would like to spend more time doing sites based on subjects I have a personal interest in.

One of the first sites I have been working on is www.spaceflicks.co.uk which is a website based on sci-fi & fantasy movies. This will be a work in progress and at the moment the site is just in it's early stages. If you decide to take a look, and you like sci-fi movies, I think you're going to like it.
