You may have noticed that video is becoming more and more popular and quickly becoming an important marketing tool even for the most basic types of business. It's not just the big brand name companies with big advertisng budgets that are taking advantage of the trend.
A recent post on the linkedin network makes the point that vidoes "tend to touch upon multiple senses among the audience which evokes desire. Since we think visually, videos explain it easier which tends to create a sense of belief among the audience"
It also says that, according to surveys, people would rather watch or share a video than read long text. Which isn't hard to believe because web users tend to scan websites and web pages quickly to find the information they are looking for, but are much more likely to spend time watching a video if it grabs their attention and provides relevant information.
The linkedin post also says that.. "Small companies benefit from video marketing as it allows them to publish their video content on online channels at a fraction of the cost of TV advertisement slots" which is true because video content sharing websites like You Tube make it relatively easy to do so.
If you're handy with a camcorder then why not add video to your website too?
Basically, all you really need to do to make a half-decent video is to take some steady footage of the main activity of your business (tip: use a tripod or monopod where possible), edit the footage, add some decent graphics and music, plus a 'call to action' (which could be as simple as displaying your telephone number(s) then upload it to You Tube.
Editing the footage and adding the graphics and music may be the trickiest part if you have no experience at digital editing. But if you really get stuck then I can provide this service for you. I can also add the video to your website (*existing clients only) and without the expense of the bandwidth fees that some companies charge.
