Phew... sure was busy last week. Added a number of new clients to portfolio including... http://www.prestigeloftladders.co.uk/, (installers of loft ladders) http://www.gleamswindowcleaning.co.uk/, http://www.taylorcleaningcompany.co.uk/ (both window cleaning companies) and a new website for one of my existing clients to promote his service in Ireland http://www.patwoodswcs.ie/
On top of that I had a few updates to take care of plus a shedload of work for the WCM magazine. Still, can't complain, at least I'm getting the work in. All I need to figure out now is how to get the slow payers to pay quicker. Unfortunately, with a few clients it's necessary not only to send reminders but also on odd occasions to 'threaten' (poor choice of words) 'advise' them of suspension of services if payment is not received. I know some people are forgetful, but oh my, it's so frustrating to know that you've tried hard to give them the best service you can possibly give them, but they take forever to reward you for your hard work.
Oh well, that's my little rant over with. Starting to sound a bit too grouchy. Never mind, back to the grindstone.

Window Cleaning Magazine latest issue
Well, it's coming around to that time again. Got a two week deadline to get the latest issue of Window Cleaning Magazine completed and it's promising to be another great issue.
As you may know, Lee Burbidge is the brainchild and editor behind the magazine, and I do all the layout and design work. It's a lot of work putting the magazine together. For my part I can easily spend around 40 hours knocking it into shape, but I've got to hand it to Lee, he's an absolute wizard at finding the material and arranging interviews with leading figures within the Window Cleaning Industry.
This will be the fourth issue of the magazine and so far it has amassed a huge following, and by the time the fifth issue becomes due in October the magazine will only be one year old.
More news about the upcoming issue coming soon.

Wedding Guitarist website design
Just completed a new website for a friend of mine who I've know for many years. he's an accomplished guitarist who earns his living now from teaching guitar playing and performing at Weddings, corporate events, restaurants and other special occasions.
Andrew isn't the first talented musician that I've done a website for, Laurel Grace is another client of mine and if you search for a singer pianist in Google then you're likely to find her website easily. And that's only due to a well optimised website and a domain name with strong keywords in the title.
SEO is a vital ingredient of any website and particularly so if you're in business and trying to get new customers via the internet. So if you need a website to promote your services then you need a webmaster that also has the skills to help you get your website found easily.
Need I say more?
Call me on 07769 021420 if you need a website that helps you build your business

UK small business websites
In my previous post I referred to the fact that I am happy to design all types of business websites for UK based small businesses. In the column to the right you can see a list of websites that I have created, but I thought you might like to view a small selection of different types of business websites so here's a few links to seven different types of business sites that I have recently designed for clients.
http://www.baileyjamesroofing.co.uk/ (roofing contractors)
http://www.buckinghamshirelandscapesltd.co.uk/ (hard and soft landscaping)
http://www.sirsweepalot.co.uk/ (chimney sweep)
http://www.abctrailertraining.co.uk/ (driving instruction)
http://www.theboatbutler.co.uk/ (boat caretaker)
http://www.salisburyjigandtool.co.uk/ (toolmaker)

Web design for small businesses
Although as a web designer I have mainly specialised in creating websites for window cleaning companies, I am quite happy to create websites for all types of small business. For example, just recently I completed a website for a chimney sweep. It's a fairly simple 'clean' design but it certainly does the job, and the client was very happy with it. So if you're looking for an affordable website for your business then give me a call. Or click this link to visit my main website Small UK business web design

Latest websites completed
Between the hectic process of getting the latest issue of Window Cleaning Magazine completed by the April 1st publishing deadline, I have completed 5 new websites. Three were for window cleaning companies and two for gutter repair and replacement companies. (Actually they were both projects for existing window cleaning clients who are branching out with their other services)
It's important to realise that when the search engines visit your site and try to assess what your site is all about that the website is correctly optimised and focused on targeting potential customers seeking precisely the type of service you're offering. If your website is mainly aimed at window cleaning then ideally at least 90% of the site should be about that service, and not diluted with many other extra services such as pressure washing, gutter cleaning, driveway cleaning and carpet cleaning etc. That's not to say you can't mention these extra services (which you can add on your 'Our Services' page) but it's far more effective to have a seperate website focused on these individual services. Especially if you're relying on your website to gain more customers through online marketing.
Anyhow, here's one of the sites that I completed for a client in just a few days. It's only a two page site that cost £80 (I charge £40 per page) and already it's ranking on the first page of Google for the optimised search terms the client was aiming for.
Studio Arts website: http://www.studioarts-dtv.co.uk/ Email: mike@studioarts-dtv.co.uk

Window Cleaning Magazine April 2012
The April issue of Window Cleaning Magazine is now available.
In case you didn't know, the Window Cleaning Magazine is a quarterly digital magazine available to download via the WCM website http://www.windowcleaningmagazine.co.uk/
To be able to access and read the current issue you will first need to sign up as a member in order to be able to log in to the members area where the April issue and all back issues can be located.
The good news however, is it's completely FREE membership. And the magazines are free to download as well. No fees whatsoever!
It's a great read for anyone involved in the window cleaning industry and it's packed with information on new products, tips and articles and interviews with high profile figures in the world of window cleaning.
The Window Cleaning Magazine is published by Lee Burbidge of WCM in association with Studio Arts (we basically do the design and layout of the magazine and website and make the publication available via the WCM membership site)
